Description	:	The Friary was located between the River Ouse and the moat of the Castle, around the 'Lower Friargate' area, built in 1230. On 27 November 1538, after more than 300 years of monastic practice, the house was signed over to Henry's commissioners and the Friary came to an end during Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries. All that now remains of it is a stone wall on King's Staith, adjacent to the Davy Tower on the York city walls. The map location is approximate as the area of the Greyfriars Abbey is now covered with more modern construction.
