| Description | : | Liverpool's "Necropolis" or "Low Hill" Cemetery was a proprietary cemetery, built on approximately five acres at the corner of Everton Rd. and West Derby Rd. It opened in 1825 and was largely used by nonconformists. The cemetery was closed in 1898 because of the unsanitary conditions caused by the amount of burials. The cemetery was turned into a public garden called Grant Gardens, opened by Alderman J R Grant in 1914.
