| Description | : | The "Pfarrkirche St. Ludwig" is the main landmark in the university district of Munich. Designed by Friedrich von Gärtner and built between 1829 and 1944 it was renovated several times in the following century. Mostly destroyed in World War II, it was cmpletely rebuilt in the 1950's. It's known for its architecture and artwork as well as for the worlds second largest altar fresco ("Das Jüngste Gericht" by Peter Cornelius). It is the final resting place for Rev. Romano Guardini, a Catholic priest, who taught and preached at the university from 1945-1962. |
