Description	:	The Rumpenheim mausoleum was built in 1823 opposite the main portal of the (Protestant) Rumpenheim Castle Church. It became the burial place of the deceased landgraves of Hessen-Kassel-Rumpenheim and their families. Over the years, 17 family members of the Hessen-Kassel-Rumpenheim family found their final resting place there. On February 15th, 1964 the mausoleum was cleared out, and all the remains were placed in a crypt on the south side of the Castle Church. The old mausoleum was then renovated and expanded to a size of 100 square meters. It has been used for cultural purposes since 1999.
