Description : This is the first civilian cemetery in the area, established after the Treaty of St. Marys in 1817-1818 by Charlie Murray, one of the first white Indian traders, who acquired his trading post a short distance south of this point from James Girty after the Treaty of Greenville. Murray purchased his trade goods in Detroit, transporting them by pack horses. In 1823, he helped lay out the town of St. Marys, and traveled to Greenville to record it.
