Description	:	The community of Selma (or Selmah) is about two miles west of Maitland on Highway 215. It began as a French settlement, but was later resettled by Loyalists from the American Colonies. There were three large ship-building yards there in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The cemetery, which surrounds the old Methodist church, was founded in 1824 by the "Methodists of Selma," who joined in the Union to form the United Church of Canada in 1925.
