Description : This family cemetery, Southwood Plantation, is located on land that was part of a King's Patent granted by Lt. Governor William Gooch in 1734 to Stephen Hollingsworth. The survey includes 472 acres of land on the Opequon Creek. Stephen Hollingsworth only kept the land for three years and sold it to Simeon Woodrow who, in short term, sold 200 acres to Edward Southwood in 1742. Edward died in 1749. The land was left to his only son, Edward Southwood II.
