Description	:	The White Chapel was built in 1755. It was the first Independent/Congregational Chapel in Leeds. The first minister of the chapel was Reverend John Edwards, originally an itinerant preacher with John Wesley. Edwards was the minister at White Chapel until his death in 1785. Salem Independent Chapel was built nearby in the area in about 1790. The White Chapel was closed to worship in 1825 when a new chapel for the congregation was built on Queens Street.
