Surviving are a daughter, Jane (Roy) Kremer, Coldwater; a son, Bill, New Bremen; a daughter-in-law, Anni Bruns, Auburn, IN; two brothers: Wilford (Lene), Tipp City, and Leonard Bruns, Maria Stein; five brothers-in-law: John (Barb) Berger, Dick (Bernice) Berger, Dick (Doris) Ware, Dan (Nancy) Streib and Rob Berger, all Versailles; four sisters-in-law: Elaine Bruns, Coldwater, Irene Bruns, Chickasaw, Linda Berger, Centerville, and Rosalyn Berger, Minster; and three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Deceased are a son and three brothers, all linked below; and a grandson, Ryan Kremer. A 1949 graduate of St. John's High School, Maria Stein, he served in the United States Army as an MP during the Korean War. After returning home, he began working in the construction industry. He eventually started his own company, Alvin Bruns Construction of New Bremen, which he operated for nearly 50 years, before retiring in the late 1990's. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer, New Bremen. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his woodshop, watching horse races, and he even raised sheep for a number of years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Church of the Holy Redeemer, New Bremen, with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Valbert's Cemetery, Versailles.
