Swisher There was sorrow in this community Monday when it was reported that A. D. This doubled the Diabetes with which Mr. Swisher had been ailing and he was unable to cope with both diseases although he made a brave fight. Andrew DeClifford Swisher was born in Biggsville, Illinois, January 17, 1873 and came to Iowa with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Swisher in 1876 locating on a farm north east of Emerson where they resided some eighteen years when they moved into town. The deceased lived in Colorado about a year and the remainder of his life has been spent in Iowa, He was engaged in the grain business at Hastings, Prescott and Hastings again and last spring with his father bought the elevator and grain business in Elmerson which he was conducting at the time his death. He was married September 10, 1903 to Miss Berths Bonham. To them were born, two children, a son who is now five years old and a little daughter 11 months who with the sorrowing wife survive him. He is also survived by his parents and brother Earl of Omaha and three sisters, Mrs. Nora Moore of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., Mrs. Blanche Snodgrass of Emerson and Mrs. Maude Myers of York, Nebr. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Prescott, Iowa. He was an idustrious, obliging and helpful citizen who was always willing to do his part. He was well liked and respected by all who knew him and Emerson loses a good citizen in his death. The funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Emerson Wednesday afternoon, January 26 at 2:30 and were conducted by Rev. M. A. Gable of Malvern assisted by Rev. E. C. McCartney of the local church and Rev. Mr. Seabright of the Presbyterian church. The Masons had , charge of the services at the Emerson cemetery. Mrs. Maude Myers of York, Nebr., was called here this week by the death of her brother, A. D. Swisher.
