Hadacek parents: Jos. W. Hadacek, Mary Hach Mrs. Vaclav Bruna Anna Janda was born in 1836 at Makova in the providence of Chrudim, Bohemia. In 1861 she was united in marriage to Vaclav Bruna and eight years, later the two emigrated to America, coming directly to Iowa in 1869. Her former years were spent on a farm near Schueville, Johnson county, and in 1886 she moved to Cedar Rapids, where she lived about two years, following her children then to Tama county, where she resided until her death. Thirteen children were born to this union. Five of them preceded their parents to the last resting place. The eight living are namely James, Thomas, Frank and Lewis Bruna, Mrs. Joseph Chalupnik, Mrs. Frances Kordina, Mrs. James Hadachek and Mrs. John Fox. All live in Tama county except the latter who resides in Iowa City. Her husband passed away July 20, 1893. Few women have lived a more integrative, faithful and useful life. A mother of thirteen children does not always have smooth sailing. The sun does not shine in every day of her life, but clouds cast their shadow's every now and then. The deceased bore her burdens as cheerfully as her joys and remained faithful to her duty to the last moment. And when she knew that it had come, she took it as patiently as when Evangeline raised her head the last time and said: “Oh Lord I thank you.” The deceased was taken sick with dropsy three weeks before her death. She was cared for at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. James Hadachek, eight miles south of Traer, where on the 14th of September she quietly fell into her everlasting sleep. The funeral, which was carried on according to Catholic principles, took place the 16th of September. All her children together with a large gathering of warm friends and relatives accompanied her to her last resting place in St. Vaclav cemetery near Clutier.
