(Funeral details followed) Asmus Heinrich Lange was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany on March 17, 1869. It was in his native Germany that he grew up to young manhood. At the age of 26 he came to this country and settled for a brief while at Davenport, Iowa. While living in Iowa he met his wife-to-be, Catharine Petersen. They were united in holy matrimony on March 26, 1896 at Rock Valley, Iowa. The very next year the family moved to a farm east of Wolbach which has been the family home ever since. Of this union ten children were born, seven of them yet living. These are Mrs. Hilda Christensen of Charter Oak, Iowa; Mrs. Clara Thiel of Mapleton, Iowa; Mr. Edward Lange, Mr. Henry Lange and Mr. Carl Lange, all of Wolbach; Mr. Hans Lange of St. Paul; and Mr. John Lange of Omaha. In addition to these he leaves 27 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three children, and by his brothers and sisters. At the time of his death he was 90 years and 12 days of age. He passed from this life on Easter Day, March 29, 1959, at the hospital in St. Paul, Nebraska. He had been ill for some eight weeks. As a young man he served in the army of Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany under compulsory conscription. This was before he came to the United States. In this country Mr. Lange gave service to the public by serving for quite a number of years on the school board of District 51 in Greeley county. He was also a member of the Famers Union for a time. In his church affiliation he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in his native country, and in this country he attended the Lutheran church at Timber Creek and considered Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach as his church home. He was well spoken of by his neighbors and dearly beloved by his children. It was a privilege to visit him during his illness, for though he was unable to speak, yet in his eyes was a sense of warmth which made all feel welcome. When he passed from this life it was a quiet and peaceful passing which marks the Christian spirit.
