He suffered an attack of typhoid fever along about the first of October and although he had suffered two relapses before the first of the year, was able to sit up at that time and was walking around on the streets for two weeks preceding his late and final sickness. Thursday of last week he was feeling exceedingly well but that night became very sick with what developed into pneumonia. He kept getting worse until death relieved him from his suffering Monday. He lost consciousness at about one o'clock that morning and failed to recognize anybody after that. Basil Milburn was born March 15, 1864 at Hillham, Indiana, and died January 31, 1910 at Medicine Lodge, Kansas, age 45 years, 10 months and 16 days. At the time of his removal here he was working at Jasper, Indiana, in a steel plant. It was though the influence of Rev. H. C. Duckett, at the time pastor of the Presbyterian church of this city, that he secured the position as janitor of the school building here. He was on his second year at that work and has made a splended janitor. He is survived by a wife and daughter, Lela, age fourteen, and brothers and sisters. In the time the Milburn family has lived here they have made numberless friends who deeply mourn with the family. School was dismissed Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday out of respect for Mr. Milburn. Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. VanHorn and the remains were laid to rest in Highland Cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the sorrowing wife, daughter and other relatives.
