Read More	Tiller and Toiler Obituary Published Tuesday, April 16, 1942 (with notations in parenthesis by S DurlerPflughoeft): Benjamin Lee Marlett, son of John Barton and Margaret (Moore) Marlett, was born near Fort Scott, Kansas (Fulton Township in Bourbon County), January 1, 1889. He died (Saturday) April 11, at the age of 53 years, three months and 11 days (at Larned KS). On March 14, 1921, he was united in marriage to Gladys Salmans of Burdett. To this union one child was born (Alice Leola Marlett). He moved from Oklahoma in 1917 to a farm near Burdett where he made his home for 20 years. The family then moved to Seneca, Mo., where they lived from the spring of 1935 until the spring of 1941. After living in Missouri for six years they returned to the farm northwest of Burdett. Mr. Marlett joined the Bethel Baptist church near Seneca, Mo., and later moved his membership to the Baptist church at Baxter Springs, Kans., where the family lived the year before returning to Burdett. Mr. Marlett was a farmer all his life, and a hard working man. He had been in ill health (Leukemia) for a year, and spent five weeks in the St. Rose Hospital at Great Bend. He was very patient during his long illness. He died at the home of Mrs. Tom Sooby in Larned where he had been a patient for three weeks. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gladys Marlett; one daughter, Mrs. Bill (Alice) Loop, of Burdett; one sister, Mrs. Clara Henry of Malta, Mont.; one brother, Vurnel Marlett of Fort Lyons, Colo.; one aunt, Mrs. Addie Smith of Vandalia, Ill.; one grandson (Chancey Lee) of Burdett, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday (April 14th) afternoon in the Methodist church of Burdett, in charge of Rev. W.D. Knight of Larned. Interment was in the cemetery at Burdett.
