Description	:	Brenda Joy Hogue was born in Nantahala, Swain County, NC, right near the Swain/Macon County line, the daughter of Earl Jackson Hogue and Maude Helen Robbins Hogue. She had beautiful red hair. She was one of 12 children born to the union of Earl and Maude. She attended school at Nantahala which is located at the bottom of the hill that Bethel Hill Baptist Church is on. She was married more than once. One husband was Nelson Edge who was the love of her life (and treated her well), he preceded her in death.... Read More	Brenda Joy Hogue was born in Nantahala, Swain County, NC, right near the Swain/Macon County line, the daughter of Earl Jackson Hogue and Maude Helen Robbins Hogue. She had beautiful red hair. She was one of 12 children born to the union of Earl and Maude. She attended school at Nantahala which is located at the bottom of the hill that Bethel Hill Baptist Church is on. She was married more than once. One husband was Nelson Edge who was the love of her life (and treated her well), he preceded her in death. He was also a strong Christian. At one time she lived on Franklin Road in Swain County but almost to Franklin. She lived in Bryson City one time and worked as a CNA/for a nursing home/ she did the same job later on when she lived in Georgia. She later lived in Covington, GA and in other suburbs of Atlanta, GA. She lived in Stockbridge, GA at one time. At the time of her death she was living in the same house as her sister and she was single. She was a sweet Christian lady, she loved the Lord, she loved attending church (was of the Baptist faith), and loved Southern Gospel music. Her favorite flower was magnolias and she liked dragonflies too. She enjoyed reading. She had no children but many nephews and nieces. Mountain Links ------------------------ Brenda Hogue Thurmond, 58, formerly of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 18, 2010, in a hospital in Atlanta. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Earl Jackson and Maude Robbins Hogue. She worked as a C.N.A. in several nursing homes. She was a member of Almond Baptist Church in Covington, Ga. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Hogue and Carrie Hogue; one brother, Charles Hogue. She is survived by one sister, seven brothers, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church of the Nantahala community. Rev. Eugene Taylor and Rev. Eddie Taylor will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday at Crisp Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
