MULLINS - Mr. Carl Hardee, 86, husband of Louise "Tootie" Sarvis Hardee, and owner and operator of Hardee's Service Center, entered the gates of Heaven on the morning of Tuesday, August 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, after an extended battle with Alzheimer's disease. Carl, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, was born on November 17, 1934, in Horry County, a son to the late Robert Pearlie Hardee and the late Gracie Williamson Hardee. Carl's love for cars turned in to a business venture as he started Hardee's Service Center on the corner of Park Street and Highway 76 in Mullins. Carl loved his customers, always taking time to talk to them to see how they were doing or how he could help them. Both his son, Christopher Carl Hardee, and Carl's faithful friend and co-worker, Jesse Buffkin, helped make the business strong for several years helping hundreds of people in the process. Carl had served his country in the South Carolina National Guard, member of the 263rd. In his down time Carl loved to get his rods and reels together and bait a hook, whether alone or with friends, it was the down time that helped him reset him mind from a busy week of work. Carl's biggest love next to his family, is his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Carl was instrumental in building the Mullins First Pentecostal Holiness Church along with the Mullins Church of God. He was a missionary in his hometown and helped as many people as he could. Carl was a devout member of Mullins First Pentecostal Holiness Church, which he loved dearly and served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. Surviving Carl in addition to his wife of 70 years and of the home, Louise "Tootie" Sarvis Hardee are his two daughters, Pam Hardee Lawson (Bill) of Mullins and Amy Hardee McLeod (Thomas) of Green Sea; three brothers, Wilbur Hardee (Linda) of Fork, Wayne Hardee (Betty) of Marion and Dennis "Beau" Hardee (Louise) of Mullins; four sisters, Doris Williamson of Galivants Ferry, LaDosca Hucks (H.B.) of Galivants Ferry, Judy Barnhill of Mullins and MaeBell Rabon of Mullins; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Mr. Hardee was preceded in death by a beloved son, Christopher Carl Hardee, his beloved daughter, Paula Renee Hardee; three sisters, Louise Baxley, Ramona Floyd, and Dale Tefertiller; and three brothers, Harl "Bud" Hardee, Roland Hardee, and Walter Dan Hardee. A graveside service for Mr. Hardee will be held Friday, August 6, at 1:00 p.m. in Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Wilkes and Dr. John Odom officiating, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. We ask that due to the returning threat of Covid, that people in attendance return to wearing masks and keep social distance when meeting the family.
