The German hymn "So nimm denn meine Haende," was sung by the confirmation class of 1890 of which Mr. Mindemann was a member. The choir sang, "Shall We Meet Beyond the River." Class Members, Pallbearers In compliance with the express deathbed wish, five members of his confirmation class acted as pallbearers, namely, Messrs. H.A. Mindemann, Diedrick Murken, Wm. Stolte, Carl Ahrens and Henry Leininger; William Kreutner, a member of the board of deacons, of which Mr. Mindemann was a member, acted as the sixth pallbearer. The beautiful floral tributes were in charge of Mrs. E. Krug, Miss Martha Bockwaldt and Mrs. Floyd Kreutner. Born in Illinois Carl Henry William Frederich Mindemann was born to his parents, Carl Mindemann and Marie, nee Stoll, at Blue Island, Cook county, Ill., on Dec. 12, 1875. He was called to his eternal home on the evening of Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 30, 1933, having attained the age of 58 years less 12 days. When but an infant his parents followed the westward trend of the 70's to seek a new home in Iowa and settled on a farm in Harrison township, Boone county. The sacrament of Holy Baptism was conferred upon him on the 30 of January, 1876 by the Rev. R. Ernst. On Palm Sunday, March 30, 1890, aged 14, he was confirmed in the tenets of the church by the Rev. L. Dornseif. His memorial verse was Psalm 37-4: "Delight thyself in the Lord and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart," — words to which he lived up to during his life. Was Married April 12, 1898 In 1898 on April 12, Mr. Mindemann was united in holy matrimony with Miss Catherine Eckhoff, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. W. Brandes. Since his marriage he lived in the near vicinity of the church, the services of which he and his wife attended regularly. His strong attachment to his church was well recognized by his fellow members at an early date. He was repeatedly elected to responsible offices of the parish, the duties of which he performed in all sincerity. He enjoyed a robust health in the prime of life, a hard working man who never spared himself, always ready to assist his fellowmen in neighborly deeds. His wish to celebrate Thanksgiving Day in heaven was fulfilled. In a peaceful way without tasting the agony of death he was called to his eternal home on that day. Those Surviving He leaves to mourn his death besides his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Charles Toepfer, and one grandchild, Arlene Mae Toepfer, of this city, three sisters and one brother, Mrs. H.W. Leininger, Mrs. C.M. Hasstedt, Andrew Mindemann, all of Boone county, and Mrs. John Krejci of Chicago, Ill., and other more distant relatives and friends.
