Read More	Carrie Donahoo was born December 6, 1863, in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and departed this life from the home of her daughter in Hastings, Nebraska, on March 6, 1948, at the age of 84 years and 3 months. At the age of nine years, she came with her parents to Nuckolls County, Nebraska, and located north of Nelson. On June 19, 1888, she was united in marriage to William Strode, who passed away October 1, 1918. Mrs. Strode leaves to mourn her departure, her daughter, Mrs. Nell Larsen, two grandchildren, Paul and Pansy; and one great grandchild, Carolyn Sue Banks. A grandson, Vaughn, has preceded her in death. In early youth she accepted Christ as her Savior and became a charter member of the Pleasant View, United Brethren Church, north of Nelson. In 1909, under the pastorate of H.V. Price, she transferred her membership in the Nelson Methodist Church. Carrie was one of those rare souls of whom earth has all too few. She was optimistic and cheerful, always looking on the bright side of life. Her faith in God was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service and her presence here and at the Circle, was like a ray of beautiful sunshine. We shall miss her, as will many others because her friends were legion. When God called her name for the reward of the faithful, she answered cheerfully, for she had been ready and waiting for the summons, "Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at two o'clock in the Klawitter Mortuary, and were in charge of Rev. Clarence V. Powell. Orin Goodrich of Hastings, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Nearer My God To Thee," with Mrs. H.H. Hite as accompanist. The pallbearers were: Roy Brookhart, Ernie Wroughton, George Herrick, Joe Diehl, Joe Ferebee and Frank Harris. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, March 11, 1948
