Correne was born on January 29, 1931, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of John Harmon and Louise Mae (Ludeman) Cooley, in Waverly, Iowa. She was raised in Waverly and attended public school in Waverly. Correne was born on January 29, 1931, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of John Harmon and Louise Mae (Ludeman) Cooley, in Waverly, Iowa. She was raised in Waverly and attended public school in Waverly. On January 16, 1949 she was married to Harold Bowen at the Methodist church in Waverly. She previously worked at the Waverly Canning Company; and Wartburg College as a custodian. Prior to retiring she did in home daycare. Harold passed away on November 26, 2008. In her spare time, she enjoyed attending blue grass music festivals, collecting recipe books, gardening, fishing, camping, and square dancing. She also enjoyed helping Harold with Harold’s Wood Corner. She was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Waverly. Correne is survived by a son, Dean (Helen) Bowen of Shell Rock; a daughter, Kathy (Jim) Quisano of Carson, California; a daughter, Deb (Ken) Young of Atkins; a daughter, Connie (Carl) Smith of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Peg (Dave) Lindeman of Lakewood, California; and a son, Dan Bowen of Brandon, South Dakota; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold Bowen; two brothers, Harley and Leo Cooley and a sister, Karen Aschbrenner. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church in Waverly with Pastor Brian Miller officiating. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
