I believe this is the David Leonard, born about 1822, who married Catherine "Katie" Livengood. Their children included: Susannah/Susan, Phebe, Alexander L., Sarah Ann/Sallie, Elizabeth, David J., John, Samuel D., Drusilla, Cicero, and Robert H.. Cicero appears to have died as a boy before 1870. Susan and John were both alive in 1870, but appear to have died before March 1893, when their father died. His obituary mentions 12 children, 8 living, so there was one more child who I have not identified and who died before he did.

There was another Davidson County David Leonard, born about 1823, who married Elizabeth Shoaf, but I haven't found much on them after the 1860 census. There was also a David Leonard - born in 1821 in Guilford County - who married Elizabeth Vickery, but they moved to Gentry County, Missouri, before the 1870 census. |
