Pawnee City Girl Fatally Injured ...Struck by Pickup Saturday Night Debra Harris, 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Harris of Pawnee City, was fatally injured when struck by a pickup truck in front of the theatre in Pawnee City, early Saturday evening. The pickup was driven by Kenneth Wissler, Pawnee City, driving north, when the child darted into the path of the truck. Though driving slowly, he was unable to stop in time after seeing the child in front of the vehicle. Mrs. Harris had let Debra and her older sister, Diane, out of the car, headed south, to attend the movies. The girls had gone around behind the car, when Debra ran into the path of the oncoming Wissler pickup. Little Debra died soon after being taken to the Pawnee County Hospital. HARRIS Debra Darlene Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Harris, was born in the Pawnee County Memorial hospital, Jan. 11, 1960, and passed away March 19, 1966, at the age of six years, two months and eight days. Her short life was spent in Pawnee City. She leaves to mourn, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Harris; two brothers, Daniel and Dennis; one sister, Diane, of the home; also her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin D. Davis, Woodbine, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. John D. Harris, Pawnee City; and many aunts, uncles and cousins; other relatives and many friends. Her cheery smile and ways will be ,missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial service was held at the Methodist church on March 22, 1966, with Rev. R. H. Lingard officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Byford Metzger, soloist. Song selections were "What a Friend" and "Tell Me the Old Old Story", accompanied by Mrs. Ross Thiemann. Organ prelude was by Mrs. Roland Finkner. Pallbearers were Calvin Percival, Gary Habegger, Alden Caswell and James Stover. She was laid to rest in the Pawnee City cemetery.
