Leroy's father J.B. Quidor, Sr. was born in New York in 1812, he died c. 1879 in Augusta County, Va. Staunton Spectator February 18, 1885 Dr. H.M. Patterson, of this city, has been called to pay a professional visit to Dr. Quidore, of McDowell, Highland county, who is ill with cerebro spinal meningitis. Dr. Patterson left here on Saturday last and had to cross the mountains in the snow-storm that prevailed that day. There are other cases of the same disease in the neighborhood of McDowell. Dr. Patterson is esteemed by the citizens of Highland, where he had practiced for some years, as a very skillful physician. Staunton Spectator February 25, 1885 Deaths In Highland County: We mentioned the fact last week that Dr. H.M. Patterson of this city (Staunton), had been called to McDowell, Highland county, to see Dr. L.L. Quidore of that place, who was quite ill with cerebro spinal meningitis, which seems to be prevailing there as an epidemic. The disease was beyond the skill of medicine to cure, and Dr. Quidore died at 6 o'clock, on the morning of last Thursday, aged 35 years. The Highland Recorder says: "He leaves a wife and five children to mourn his untimely death. The community, by his death, lose a good and worthy citizen. Dr Quidore was a native of Churchville, Augusta County. He began the practice of medicine at McDowell in 1871. In January, 1872, he married Miss. Henrietta Russell Rexrode, daughter or Mr. Andrew Rexrode of McDowell. To his family and friends we extend our sincere sympathy in their bereavement. His father John Bennett Quidor, Sr. appears to have died in 1879, there were notices in the January 1880 issues of the Staunton Spectator concerning the settlement of John B. Quidor's estate.
