Description	:	He was born August 8, 1929 at Vanora, Kansas, the son of William and Elizabeth (Webster) Blake. He graduated from El Dorado High School and served in the US Army. Ed owned and operated Blake Oil for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Ed served as a City Commissioner for one term and then was Mayor of El Dorado for 14 years. While serving as mayor he was Ambassador of El Dorado to our sister city in France. He graduated from El Dorado High School and served in the US Army. Ed owned and operated Blake Oil for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Ed served as a City Commissioner for one term and then was Mayor of El Dorado for 14 years. While serving as mayor he was Ambassador of El Dorado to our sister city in France. He started the Mayor's Prayer breakfast in El Dorado; served on the Main Street Committee; worked with the Prison Ministry; a member of the Elks Lodge. He loved to play hully gully; chess; read, use his computer; work on cars and spend time with his grandchildren. On March 26, 1955 he married Wilma Lois Needham in a ceremony in Eureka. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2007. Those he leaves are two daughters and their husbands Carol and Jeff Saferite, El Dorado; Lori and Jim Ruder, Benton; grandchildren—Jeff and Robin Saferite, Fairfax Station, VA; Chris and Stephanie Saferite, Wichita; Monica Saferite, El Dorado; and great-grandchlldren—Jaymison Saferite; Safari Saferite, Tucker Saferite. Five brothers Tom and wife Sherilyn Blake, Derby; Albert and wife Dorothy Blake, Wichita; Bill Blake and Kenneth Blake and wife Vi, all of El Dorado; Don and wife Nancy Blake, of North Carolina; and five sisters Laura Turner, Irvin, CA; Helen Brown and Shirley Grimm, both of San Bernardino, CA; Wynona Parrot, of Missouri; Connie Walker and husband Les of El Dorado; several nieces and nephews and his caregiver Wendy Hatch.
