She died March 14, 2007 at the Ashley Medical Center. Emily Bendewald, daughter of John and Katharina (Daschendorf) Bendewald was born July 30, 1919 ten miles northeast of Ashley. She died March 14, 2007 at the Ashley Medical Center. Emily Bendewald, daughter of John and Katharina (Daschendorf) Bendewald was born July 30, 1919 ten miles northeast of Ashley. She was baptized on August 3, 1919 and confirmed in 1934 at Peace Lutheran Church. In 1945, her family moved to Aberdeen, SD. She was united in marriage to Oscar Klipfel in January of 1946. They had four daughters. Oscar farmed and had part ownership in the Klipfel Brothers Heating business. Her husband died in 1959. She was then united in marriage to Cyrus N. Pfeifle on September 17, 1961 in Zion Lutheran Church at Ashley. Emily was a resident at the Ashley Nursing Home. Her husband devotedly visited her every evening. Emily enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, canning and giving home permanents. She loved caring for her family and they were always her prime concern. Like every mother, Emily was special to her husband, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Alter Society, Joyful Singers, WELCA and Busy Bee Homemakers Club. Survivors include her husband of Ashley, four daughters, Sharon (Bruno) Mulske of West Fargo, Carol Irion of Mina, S.D., Wanda (David) Teply of Bloomington, Minnesota and Victoria (Jeff) Melchior of Fargo, two brothers, Adolph (Olivia) Bendewald of Groton, S.D. and Benny (Francis) Bendewald of Aberdeen, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her parents, first husband, five sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Honorary Casketbearers were Dave Teply and Jon Teply. Casketbearers were Corey Irion, Nick Ziegelmann, Matt Strinden, Roger Klipfel, Jeff Melchior and Bruno Mulske. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley was entrusted with arrangements. Ashley Tribune
