Description	:	Eugene "Gene" Ronald Annis, 72, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2017 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana. Gene was born on May 4, 1945, to Glen and Ruth Annis in Bremerton, Wash. He grew up in Custer, South Dakota. He graduated from Custer High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and served four years. While staying in Southern California he met his wife Kathie O'Donnell in 1971. Read More	Eugene "Gene" Ronald Annis, 72, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2017 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana. Gene was born on May 4, 1945, to Glen and Ruth Annis in Bremerton, Wash. He grew up in Custer, South Dakota. He graduated from Custer High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and served four years. While staying in Southern California he met his wife Kathie O'Donnell in 1971. They were married in August of 1977. In 1978, Gene accepted a position as an electrician at the Loma Linda VA Hospital and moved to Yucaipa. He resided in Yucaipa for the rest of his life and had two children. Gene used his G.I. Bill and earned a Bachelors of Arts in History from Cal State San Bernardino. Gene was a very supportive father and active in the community as a youth soccer coach and fan at all of their sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Kathie Annis of Yucaipa; daughter, Kelly Metcalf of Redlands and son Ryan Annis of Los Angeles; sister Elaine Morgan and brothers Allen and Dale Annis; grandchildren, Kai and Harper Metcalf. A celebration of Gene's life for family and friends was held at the Yucaipa Community Center, 34900 Oak Glen Rd. on Sept. 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. A private family service was conducted at Riverside National Cemetery.
