She had been in ill health for aong time and when her condition became critical Sunday she was taken to the hospital. Friedericka Permann nee Diegel was born March 17, 1871, at Hoffnungstal, in the province of Cherson, South Russia, where she grew to young womanhood. On November 26, 1891, she was united in marriage to Christ Permann at Glueckstal, South Russia, and where the young couple lived for the next ten years. In 1900 the family consisting of the parents and five small children, immigrated to the United States, arriving in Bowdle on April 06. Living on a farm north of Java until the fall of that year when they took up a homestead, four miles south of Lowry. They resided there until 1920 when the father retired from farming and they moved to Lowry, where they lived until 1924 when they came to Java to make their home. On Thanksgiving Day in 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Permann celebrated the 50th or golden jubilee anniversary of their wedding day. They were the parents of 17 children, 14 of whom are living. Three sons preceded the mother in death. The deceased was quiet and unassuming, a devout Christian and a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran church. She had been suffering for many years from diabetes and when her condition became serious, she was taken to the hospital for constant medical care but she succumbed Tuesday morning at the age of 72 years, nine months and 17 days. She is survived by her husband, Christ Permann; and 14 children, Mrs. Emanuel Rieger of Athboy, Mrs. Catherine Mehlhaff of Trail City, Fred of Lowry, Jacob of Long Beach, California, Mrs. Annetta Hettich of Tolstoy, Mrs. Emma Goetz of Gettysburg, South Dakota, Mrs. Christina Oster of Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Maria Helm of Hoven, Albert of Lowry, Mrs. Carolina Stotz of Tolstoy, Mrs. Rosina Goetz of Akaska, Alma of Java, Richard of Lowry, and Mrs. Lydia Helm of Tolstoy; 52 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place at 1:30 at the home and 2 p.m. at the church with reverend L A Westenberger officiating. Interment will be made in the Java Lutheran cemetery.
