| Description | : | Thomas Demar was a tobacco planter and farmer. On 1 August 1838, he married his cousin, Mary Ann Demar. Mary Ann and their 3 children all died during a flu epidemic. On 30 Dec. 1847, Tom married Elizabeth B. Oliver. This family name was spelled Demar until about 1898 when most of the males began using the DeMarr spelling. Some family members merely began changing to a capital M as DeMar. |
