Mrs. Ireland died Thursday in a local hospital, where she had been a patient three weeks. She had been in lingering illness the past 10 years. The Rev. Alva Taylor will conduct the rites at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Congregational Church here. Interment will be made in the Garrison Cemetery. Six sons of the deceased will serve as active pall bearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Rupp, Hugh Solenberger. Richard Falstad. Harry Solenberger, Iver Falstad, H. T. Burns, Albert Landsiedel, Ernest Giffey, Dr. J. W. Robinson, Miles Vreeland, Art Benshoof, Sr., and William Mahowald. A resident of North Dakota since 1901, Mrs. Ireland homesteaded with her husband that year on a farm four miles south of Garrison. They made their home there until retiring and moving to Garrison in 1948. Mrs. Ireland was a charter member of the Garrison American Legion Auxiliary and the Stevenson Flat Club here She. also was a memher of the Congregational Church and the Naomi Circle of the church. Mrs. Ireland was born Gertrude Allen July 19, 1876, in Bedford. Ind., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Allen. She moved to Iowa as a child with her parents and was married at Des Moines to Frank Ireland. Sr., Feb. 27, 1896. They made their home in Iowa until coming to North Dakota. The couple was honored by their family on the occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary last year. In addition to her husband and son, Mrs. Ireland leaves five other sons, Ray, Ralph, Paul and Frank Ireland. Jr.. all of Garrison, and Dr. Cecil Ireland, Valley City: one daughter. Mrs. Clarence (Barbara) Gray, Yuba City, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Rose Miller, Booneville, Iowa: 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
