He possesses much natural aptitude for the law, being a concise and logical reasoner, who always has his cases well in hand. As a speaker, he is earnest and at times eloquent, and his services are always in demand during campaigns, where his influence promotes the Democratic cause. His logical arguments are relieved by flashes of wit, and illustrations from the homely affairs of everyday life, that never fail to impress the minds of his hearers. In 1872 our subject graduated at the Columbian University, of Washington, D. C. At the age of twenty-one he embarked in the grain business at Georgetown, and this he followed for ten years, then turned his attention to the law. He is one of the four oldest lawyers in Montgomery County, where he has built up a large and profitable general practice. In religious belief he is a Methodist. He is connected with Montgomery Lodge No. .195, A. F. & A. M., Columbia Chapter No. 4, R. A. M., and DeMolay Commandery No. 3, K. T., at Washington. January 14, 1875, he married Cora E. Wilson, of Georgetown. Four children comprise their family, namely: Estelle Hyde; Thomas M., a student in Cornell University, Helen Wilson and Evelyn Wailes. Source: Portrait and Biographical Record of the Sixth Congressional District Maryland, 1898 Obituary Rockville, Md., November 3, 1934 — Henry Maurice Talbott, 83, formerly State's Attorney for Montgomery County and the oldest member of the Montgomery County Bar, died tonight at his home here. Until stricken with a gastric disorder about 10 days ago, he had been actively engaged in practicing in his profession and seemed unusually vigorous in both mind and body for one of his years. Mr. Talbott was a son of the late Benson Talbott. He was born in Shepherdstown, W.Va., and with him his parents came to Poolesville in this county when an infant. After graduating from Columbian University, now George Washington University, in 1872, he was for a number of years engaged in business in Georgetown as a grain commission merchant. He had been practicing law in Rockville for more that 50 years. The deceased was a member of the Rockville Lodge of Masons and was a Knight Templar. He was formerly for many years one of the leaders of the Democratic party in Montgomery County. Surviving him are a son, Thomas M. Talbott of San Francisco, Calif., and two daughters, Mrs. F. Barnard Welsh and Mrs. J. Darby Bowman, both of Rockville. He also leaves two brothers, William H. Talbott, Rockville attonery, and Dr. Thomas M. Talbott of Falls Church, Va. ad a sister, Mrs. Lillie Eversfield, College Park, Md.
