About 1911 he moved to Lancaster and resided with his parents to whom he was a comfort and stay in their declining years. Read More	Mo death cert 30311 Single Son of John Burns and Matilda Taylor Henry Burns, son of John and Matilda Taylor Burns, was born on a farm near Lancaster, Mo., October 23, 1867, and died August 29, 1939, aged 71 years, 10 months and 6 days. About 1911 he moved to Lancaster and resided with his parents to whom he was a comfort and stay in their declining years. After their death he remained at the family home until a few months ago, when he again took up residence on the farm where he was born. An only sister, Mrs. Nellie Slavin preceded him in death some years ago. Since then he has given her two daughters, Cleo West of Memphis, Mo., and Bernice Burkeholder of Butler, Mo., his most tender consideration and devotion. Besides these nieces, he leaves two great nieces, Betty Ann and Carol Lee West, and one great nephew Jimmie Burkeholder, a brother in law, James Slavin and many other relatives and friends. For several years he engaged in carpenter work in the community, but later turned his attention to improving his farm, being considered one of the more progressive farmers of today. Although of a quiet and unobtrusive nature Henry was known and respected for his sterling qualities of honesty and uprightness in dealing with others and for his loyalty to those who were glad to call him their neighbor and friend. Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. by Rev. Lyle L. Gaither, assisted by Rev. W. T. Andrews. Interment was in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
