Homer was listed as age 29 born November 1870 in Ohio, his wife Blanche E. age 27 born January 1873 in Ohio, their children listed were; Frank B. age 5 born November 1894, John R. age 4 born November 1985 and William R. age 2 born April 1898, all born in Ohio. Also living with him was his step-grandmother Mary J. Buchanan (Widow) age 70 born August 1829 in Ohio, and his aunt Margery Riley (single) age 64 born January 1846 in Ohio. (Margery was a sister to Mary J. (Riley) Buchanan.) It also stated Homer and Blanche were married for 7 years, and had 3 children, which all three were still living at that time. This was recorded in the Carroll Journal, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, April 8, 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Buchanan of Loudon Township observed their golden wedding anniversary Monday evening at their home. They were married at East Springfield on April 5, 1893, and for 49 years have been residents of Loudon Township. One year of their married life was spent in Carrollton. Mrs. Buchanan is the former Blanche Elizabeth Kirby of Amsterdam vicinity. Mr. Buchanan is 72 and his wife is 70. Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan are the parents of three sons, Frank B. of Loudon Township, John and Forrest of Amsterdam. A son, Ralph died in infancy. They have three grandchildren Keith and Harry Buchanan of Amsterdam and Mrs. Mary B. Dye of Loudon Township; and one great-grandson, Glenn W. Dye Jr. Mr. Buchanan has a twin brother, John L. Buchanan of Alliance and Mrs. Buchanan has a sister, Mrs. Mary Kirby Clarke of Dunedin, Florida. His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, July 14, 1966. Homer G. Buchanan, 95, retired fruit grower and farmer, died at 5:30 Sunday in his home at Rt. 1, Amsterdam. He had been in ill health the past five years. Mr. Buchanan was born in Carrollton November 16, 1870, son of the late Rev. William H. and Sarah (Gilbert) Buchanan, and had lived or the same farm the past 80 years. He served in the U.S. Army in 1891. Mr. Buchanan was an active member of Amsterdam Methodist Church and was present at all services as long as his health permitted. He had been an officer of the church, serving on all of the boards. Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary April 6, 1966. Survivors include Mrs. Buchanan, the former Blanche Kirby, two sons, John and Forest, both of Amsterdam; a twin brother, John L. of Denver, Colo.: four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Frank in 1965 and Ralph in 1902, and two brothers, Clarence and Frank. Funeral services were Wednesday at the Amsterdam Methodist Church with Rev. Phillip H. Gillis officiating. Burial was in Kilgore cemetery. The Sweeney Funeral Home of Amsterdam was in charge of arrangements.
