Description	:	Horace W. 'Bill' Estep, 81, of Hampton, departed this life on July 28, 2006. He was born Sept 23, 1924, in Luray, Va., to the late Horace Newton Estep and Edith Mae Aleshire. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Robert N. 'Butch' Estep; and his brother, James Estep. Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army on July 7, 1943, and served until Nov. 23, 1945. During this time he was with the 82nd Airborne Division, 320th Gilder Field Artillery in Cardiff, Wales. On Sept. 18, 1944 he was captured in Germany and held as a prisoner... Read More	Horace W. 'Bill' Estep, 81, of Hampton, departed this life on July 28, 2006. He was born Sept 23, 1924, in Luray, Va., to the late Horace Newton Estep and Edith Mae Aleshire. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Robert N. 'Butch' Estep; and his brother, James Estep. Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army on July 7, 1943, and served until Nov. 23, 1945. During this time he was with the 82nd Airborne Division, 320th Gilder Field Artillery in Cardiff, Wales. On Sept. 18, 1944 he was captured in Germany and held as a prisoner of war until April 26, 1945. Following a short break in service, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and retired from active duty in the USAF on April 1, 1972. He is survived by three sons, William D. Estep of LaQuinta, Calif., John A. Estep of Nuedlingen, German and Joseph M. Estep of Lampassas, Texas; one Daughter, Jana M. Pens of Houston, Texas; a brother, Richard Estep of Rileyville, Va. A sister, Nancy Dorrough of Elkton, Va., eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and his two true friends, Walter W. Hankins and Frances F. Pride of Hampton, Va. Burial was in the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery.
