The subject of this obituary was born in Ross county, Ohio, Nov. 16th, 1822. He emigrated with his fathers family to Tippecanoe county, Indiana, in 1828, where he resided until 1843 when he came to this county and has lived ever since except two years he resided in Linn Co. In Feb. 1845, he was married to Miss Catherine A. Dillon of which union they have raised a large family--seven of the children and the mother remain to mourn his loss. He was a kind husband and father, and the community has lost a good neighbor and citizen, and the county one of her pioneer settlers, his having come here when but a few had ventured so far westward to procure themselves home and comfort, which he lived to enjoy to a reasonable degree, leaving enough to care for his companion for life. So we realize the time is not far in the distance when the pioneers will all have passed into that country where all must be going to at the last.
