Description	:	James C. "Jim" Hart, 89, a Malaga resident for 54 years and a retired orchardist passed away in Wenatchee, Sunday, April 11, 1999. Jim was born in Longbeach, CA on Nov. 25, 1909 to Bert and Marie Hart. At an early age, his family moved to Alberta, Canada where they homesteaded near Lethbridge. "Jim" Hart, 89, a Malaga resident for 54 years and a retired orchardist passed away in Wenatchee, Sunday, April 11, 1999. Jim was born in Longbeach, CA on Nov. 25, 1909 to Bert and Marie Hart. At an early age, his family moved to Alberta, Canada where they homesteaded near Lethbridge. Following his father's death, his mother moved the children to Franklin, IA where Jim finished his education and helped to support the family. He learned the profession of commercial baking and worked at it for several years. He then studied dry cleaning methods and practiced that trade for several years. He married Frances Hendricks in 1931 and they made their home in Fort Madison, IA until the couple, with their son, James E. moved to Malaga and purchased an orchard. He retired from orcharding in the seventies and became the greens keeper at the Three Lakes Public Golf Course, a work he enjoyed for a few years. Jim and his wife traveled to the British Isles, Germany, Japan and the Philippines to visit their son, Dr. James Hart while he served in the U.S. Air Force. Jim loved to fish and put his boat in many lakes. He enjoyed golf and always had a beloved canine friend. He was a member of the Wenatchee Active Club, Wenatchee Elks and the Baptist Church in Iowa. He attended the Wenatchee Adventist Church with his wife. Jim left behind his wife of 68 years, brother Bill in Iowa, sister Dorothy in California, Violet in Mount Pleasant Iowa, his daughter-in-law Ruth, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Richard and his son, Dr. James E. Hart. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 17, 1999 at 3 p.m. at the Wenatchee Adventist Church. Inurnment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee under the direction of Telford's Chapel of the Valley. Memorials in Jim's honor may be given to the Adventist Church building fund or Alzheimer Research Center.
