Description	:	James Milton Braswell, 96 years old, among the oldest residents of Charlotte and Mecklenburg county, died at 5:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. L. Bailey, 210 North Brevard street, with whom he had beeen making his home since August. The funeral service will be conducted at Mill Creek Baptist church in Union county this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. L. R. Pruette, pastor of Ninth Avenue Baptist church, and other ministers will officiate. Burial will take place at the churchyard. Four generations survive Mr. Braswell, who was married three times. By his first wife three sons survive: Elam, Calvin and Hiram Braswell, of Union county. There were no children by his second wife, who died soon after marriage. The widow, and third wife, who was Miss Nannie Williams, of Mecklenburg county, and the following children survive: Oscar Braswell, of Union county; Chester Braswell, of Marshville; Mrs. A. L. Stephens, of Black Mountain, and Mrs. G. L. Bailey, of Charlotte. A step-daughter, Mrs. J. L. Parker, of Charlotte is also living. For 74 years Mr. Braswell was a faithful member of Mill Creek Baptist church. He lived a Christian life and was highly regarded by his associates. He was born and raised in the Mill Creek church neighborhood and fought bravely in the war between the states. His health had been failing for about a year.
