Description | : | James Nunnery was born in Humphreys Co., TN, this area later became Benton Co., TN. He was the last of 4 children of Rebecca Sanders Nunnery. He served in the 49th TN Co. I. James was 2nd Lt. but later resigned his rank and served the rest of his time as a private. He was captured at Fort Donaldson along with the rest of his unit and was sent to Chicago, IL to Camp Douglas POW camp. His unit was exchanged at Port Hudson, LA and they reorganized.
