He and his brother, Johan Georg Drumm, immigrated to the United States as passengers on the S.S. Chance, arriving in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 23 September 1766. He eventually settled in Loudon County, Virginia. It was there in 1773 that he was married to Anna Maria Barb, daughter of Johan Jacob Barb and Anna Christina Richter.
