Same page --- Jonathan [appears to be same man as John], having been dismissed by Deer Creek MM, Md., for marrying out of unity, requested reinstatement; h"he was recommended to that MM by this mtg." Same page -- Jonathan received on certificate from Deer Creek MM, on 1808, 9, 10. Vol. V, p. 301, John & w, Druscilla, granted certificate to Fairfield MM, Ohio, on 1811, 10, 12. WARNING: Elsie Johnson Ayres' book Highland Pioneer Sketches & Family Genealogies, asserts on p. 322, that "John, brother of Daniel Burgess, also settled in Fairfield Twp. where he died in 1852. His first wife, Drucilla, 1772-Jan. 27, 1842, came to Ohio with him. After her death, he married Penelope, daughter of James Johnson, who survived until 1859." The last sentence is nonsense. Mrs. Ayres apparently never checked Hinshaw's Quaker records. Although there was a wedding between a Joseph Burgess and a Penelope Johnson, dau of James & Penelope, that wedding was in 1817 [Hinshaw, vol. V, p. 225]. It obviously did not take place after the death of Drucilla Burgess in 1842. Although it is a less important error, it's also untrue that John and Drucilla Burgess came "with" Daniel and Rachel. The former came more than a year later than Daniel and Rachel, which is easily verifiable in the Quaker records [Hinshaw, vol. V, p. 225].
