The drowning of Lawrence Pilcher, coach at the Eskridge high school, Sunday, August 20th was a stunning and cruel shock to this community where he grew to manhood, and to the communities where he had taught and lived. He and three companions, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Lucky and Hollis McCoy, all of Eskridge were riding in a sailboat at Lake Wabaunsee when the boat overturned.
