Hogarty, early Sunday morning, April 28, 1918, aged seventy-seven years, five months and eighteen days. On October 31, 1859, she was united in marriage to Silas A. Elliott at Rock Island, Illinois. To this union eight children were born, five of whom preceded her into the great beyond. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mellie Hogarty of Ada, Kansas, Mrs. Mary Langton of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Josie Luke of Topeka, Kansas. She was one of nine children, all of whom have now passed on except Mrs. Ellen Karns of Ada, Kansas. Her husband passed on before, thirty years ago. In the year 1869 the subject of this obituary moved with her husband and family to Cass county, Mo., and settled on a farm. Here they lived until 1873, when they moved to Ada, Kansas. After the husband's death she spent part of the time with her children and the other she spent at her home in Ada. She seemed to feel lonely because so many of her friends and loved ones were with her no more. She seemed anxious to pass on to her heavenly reward, but expressed a desire to live long enough to see all of the boys come home from the war. She united with the Baptist church at Rock Island, Ill., at the age of sixteen. In April 1876 she united with the Ada Baptist church and has been a faithful member for more than forty years. During the last few years she has not been able to attend services regularly but she loved her Lord and the cause of Christ. She was a splendid neighbor and citizen and will be greatly missed by all of her friends and loved ones. She leaves three children, twenty-four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one sister, together with a host of friends and loved ones to mourn for her. Her last words were: "I am going Home to die no more." And so our dear sister is not dead, but passed on to be with Jesus and those who have gone on before. Funeral services were held from the Ada Baptist church, Tuesday afternoon, attended by a large congregation of friends and neighbors, Rev. H.F. Surles officiating. Interment was made in the Ada cemetery.
