Description	:	Marian Verna (Petersen) Campbell, aged 83, of Rockwell, Iowa, died Wednesday evening (May 23, 2007) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Born on December 23, 1923, in rural Rockwell, Iowa, she was the daughter of Olaf and Bertha F. (Hansen) Petersen and the third of six children born to her parents. Read More	Marian Verna (Petersen) Campbell, aged 83, of Rockwell, Iowa, died Wednesday evening (May 23, 2007) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Born on December 23, 1923, in rural Rockwell, Iowa, she was the daughter of Olaf and Bertha F. (Hansen) Petersen and the third of six children born to her parents. Marian had resided in the area all her life. Marian was a graduate of Rockwell High School in 1941 and furthered her education at Hamilton Business College. In her earlier years, she worked at the creamery in Rockwell, the Rockwell Nursing Home, along with her sister, Hannah, and at the People's Gas and Electric Company (Interstate Power). Most area residents will well-remember Marian's employment with the U.S. Post Office. She was employed for 15 years as a "floating" postal clerk in Rockwell, Sheffield, and Dougherty, and retired on January 31, 1986. On June 15, 1947, Marian was united in marriage with Raymond Arthur Campbell at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Rockwell. They became the busy and proud parents of a daughter and three sons. Some of Marian's memberships and activities included the American Legion Auxiliary-Gallagher Post 208, the Altar Guild, the Martha Circle at church, and the Quilting Club. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army in Mason City for numerous years, until approximately one year before her passing. Marian was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Viking basketball and football fan, she found great joy in quilting and sewing, finding a good bargain at garage sales, and spending precious moments with her family and friends. Marian had a wonderful sense of humor and has been described as a very generous, caring, supportive, and loving woman. She will be dearly missed by all who have shared in her life! Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Arthur Campbell, on August 28, 1995; her daughter, Linda (Campbell) Schaefer; her parents, Olaf and Bertha (Hansen) Petersen; and two brothers, Marvin and William "Bill" Petersen. Marian was survived by her three sons, Doug and Maureen Campbell, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Brian and Merilee Campbell, of Mason City, and David and Jill Campbell, of Des Moines; her sisters, Hannah (Petersen) and Herald Thompson, of Rockwell, and Marcella (Petersen) and Dale Erickson, of Sun City, Arizona; and her brother, Jack and JoAnn Petersen, of Rockwell. She will also be a cherished "Grandma" to Brad Schaefer, Becca Schaefer, Jami Campbell, Evan Campbell, Kathryn Campbell David, Erin Campbell, Meghan Campbell, Joseph Campbell, Jacob Campbell, Abby Campbell, and Sam Campbell; and her two great-grandchildren, Landon Campbell and Rae JoAnn David. Visitation was at the Fullerton Funeral Home of 120 South Third Street, Rockwell. Visitation continued one hour prior to funeral services at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 502 South Second Street, Rockwell, with the Reverend Ronald Bolinger officiating. Interment followed in the Rockwell Cemetery.
