Her body was cremated and a Memorial service will be Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of the Eastern Star Masonic Home with Rev. James Barnett officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, west of Boone, at a later date. Friends may call at the Eastern Star Chapel on Wednesday after 1 p.m. Marjorie was born in Boone on September 13, 1941, the daughter of Charles and Marjorie Barbara (Estep) Eckhart. She graduated from Boone High School in 1960. Marjorie married Richard D. Lind in Boone on July 24, 1965. The couple lived in Boone until 1975, when they moved to Ames. Marjorie worked at Iowa State University in printing, Bourns in Ames, and again at Iowa State University in Food Service. She was a member of the Klassy Kruisers Car Club and the Marion Street United Methodist Church in Boone. In earlier years, Marjorie enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, collecting cat figurines and memorabilia, and attending classic car shows. She and her husband enjoyed riding in their 1963 Chevy Corvair and Olds Cutlass Silver Bullet. Marjorie also enjoyed reading cookbooks and bargain hunting. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law Dean Benshoff. She is survived by her husband Richard of Ames; a sister Ella Benshoff of Ottawa, Ohio; sisters-in-law Dianne Eppert of Boone and Lori Wildeman and husband Arlen, also of Boone; two cousins Helen Allen of Pierce, Nebraska, and Eugene Staley of Denver, Colorado; mother-in-law and father-in-law Maynard and Lillian Lind of Boone; and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
