Tietjen of Byron became the bride of Mr. Marvin L. Schlueter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Schlueter of Hardy at a 6:30 o'clock P.M. candlelight ceremony in St. John's Lutheran Church at Byron on Wednesday, January 7. The church was decorated with arrangements of white and yellow chrysanthemums and lighted tapers. Blue and white streamers decorated the aisle pews. The Rev. H. J. Graf performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of 200 relatives and friends. The wedding music was played by Miss Edna Duensing, who also accompanied Mrs. Verland Tietjen, cousin of the bride, who sang "The Wedding Prayer" and "O Master Let Us Walk With Thee." The bride given in marriage by her father was gowned in traditional white fashioned of chantilly lace over satin and nylon tulle. The basque bodice of lace over satin emphasized a nylon tulle yoke appliqued sweetheart style and topped with a wing collar of lace. Long lace fitted sleeves formed a point over the wrist. The bouffant skirt of nylon tulle over satin featured full length triple tiered panels of fully gathered tulle and lace. Tiny self covered buttons closed the back bodice. A chapel train of satin completed the gown. Her double finger tip veil of illusion, appliqued briefly with lace medallions was held in place with a sweetheart tiara of pleated satin introducing a running pearl edge in leaf pattern. Her bouquet was of white carnations in a heart design with red roses forming the arrow and white streamers. She wore a double strand of pearls a gift from the groom. Miss Ernestine Tietjen served her sister as maid of honor wearing a yellow satin gown with a scalloped waist and full gathered skirt. Small self covered buttons closed the back bodice. The bodice was made with round nylon tulle yoke and short puffed sleeves. She wore matching mitts and carried an arm bouquet of pink carnations. Miss Delores Rademacher of Newkirk, Okla., cousin of the groom and Miss Henrietta Dittmer, friend of the bride served as bridesmaids. Miss Maureen Schlueter, sister of the groom, lighted the candles. They wore gowns identical to that of the maid of honor with matching mitts in medium blue and light blue respectively. The bridesmaids carried arm bouquets of pink carnations and the candlelighter wore a wrist corsage of yellow carnations. Karen Kay Schlueter, sister of the groom, was ringbearer, carrying the rings on a satin white pillow and Lola Alice Tietjen, sister of the bride, was flower girl carrying a basket of yellow baby mums. They wore identical gowns of pink satin styled like that of the other attendants. All the attendants gowns were styled and made by the bride. The groom wore a gray suit. He was attended by his brother, Arlen Schluter as best man. Frederick Tietjen and Edgar Tietjen, brothers of the bride, and Martin Kroeger and Rolla Gene Wittke, cousin of the groom were ushers. They all wore white carnation bouttonnieres (sic). The mother of the bride wore an aqua blue two piece dress. The groom's mother wore a tan dress. They wore white carnation corsages. A reception was held in the Byron Memorial Hall. The brides table was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom. Mrs. Rudolph Hoops cut the cake and Mrs. Raymond Marquart poured coffee. The Miss Viola Pohlmann, friend of the bride had charge of the gifts and Mrs. LaVern Kneip (sic) had charge of the guest book. The groom served in the Army in Korea and that states. The bride wore a tan suit with dark brown accessories for their wedding trip to the south.
