Description	:	Mary Bernadette Doud was born to George Thomas Doud and Josephine Catherine Danahue Doud on Nov. 20, 1909. She was named after two of her aunts, Mary Doud and Mary Danahue. She passed away on Dec. 31, 1997, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 11 days. She was one of two children in the family. Read More	Mary Bernadette Doud was born to George Thomas Doud and Josephine Catherine Danahue Doud on Nov. 20, 1909. She was named after two of her aunts, Mary Doud and Mary Danahue. She passed away on Dec. 31, 1997, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 11 days. She was one of two children in the family. Mary graduated from the Geneva High School with the class of 1927, and then attended the University of Nebraska, where she studied business. She worked as a secretary at the Clerk of the District Court in Geneva for a number of years. Following the death of her parents, she took a position with a legal firm in Omaha, where she worked for many years as a legal secretary. She worked with a friend in running a senior car home in Union, Nebraska. She later resided in that same home. Upon the death of her friend, she moved to the Ambassador Care Home, formerly Valley View Care Home in Nebraska City, where she remained until her death. Mary was affiliated with the Catholic Sorority while at the University of Nebraska. She was a lifelong Catholic, and spent much time in assisting with the senior population. She was always interested in fashion and decorating and maintained that interest throughout her life. She had recently realized a life long dream of flying, when she was taken out in a small plane to survey the Nebraska City countryside. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Josephine Doud; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Buke) Doud; and great-nephew, Shannon Picard. She is survived by her brother, Lawrence Doud; nieces, Judith Picard, Deborah Doud, Jane Hassel; nephew Thomas Doud; great-nieces, Erin Boeckman, Meghan Doud, Jenny Doud, and Katie Doud' Jill Hassel and Micaela Doud-Fehringer; great-nephews, Ryan Doud, Timothy Hassel, Eric Doud-Fehringer; great-great-nephew, Drew Lawrence Boeckman; cousins Agnes Kleinschmidt, Leo Doud, and Martha Riggs. Funeral services were conducted from the Father Ulenberg Memorial Hall in Geneva at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, with Msgr. Ivan Vap officiating. Music was provided by the St. Joseph Women's Choir. Casket bearers were Thomas Doud, Raymond Fehringer, Leonard Hassel, Randy Kleinschmidt, William Kleinschmidt and Harold Moravec. Interment was in the St. Joseph's Cemetery.
