Mr. and Mrs. Hammersly and granddaughter Donna, accompanied by Gilbert Warner, had started to Fort Dodge to visit their son, Harry Hammersly who is a patient in the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Hammersly and granddaughter Donna, accompanied by Gilbert Warner, had started to Fort Dodge to visit their son, Harry Hammersly who is a patient in the hospital. When about six miles from home they were hit by another car at an intersection. Mrs. Hammersly was the only one in the car injured. She was taken to the hospital but did not regain consciousness, and died Friday morning. Mary Conwell Hammersly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Conwell was born near Ottumwa on Nov. 16, 1871, where she lived and grew to womanhood. In the spring of 1895 she with her parents moved to Humboldt county. In June 1902 she was united in marriage to Walter Hammersley. To this union one son, Harry was born. They made their home on a farm southeast of Gilmore City where they lived until two years ago when they retired from the farm and moved to town. She is survived by her husband, and one son Harry and wife, and one granddaughter, Donna Belle; a sister, Mrs. Emma C. Day and a brother Arthur Conwell of New Haven, Conn.; besides a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. S. Handy, assisted by Rev. Shroder of the Baptist church. Pallbearers were Frank Spies, Jack Spies, John Wall, Geo. Stamper; and Bob Evans. Burial was in Marble Valley cemetery.
