Hollingshead was born near Rushville, Ind., July 27, 1835, and passed away Thursday, June 15, 1911, at the age of seventy-five years, ten months and eighteen days. When but a child she moved with her parents, Elijah and Frankie Hollingshead to Albia, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Andrew Stephenson September 21, 1851. In 1853 they moved to Clarke county where she has since resided, living on the old homestead for fifty-eight years. She was the mother of ten children, three sons and seven daughters, all of whom grew to manhood and womanhood and all of whom survive their mother, except one son, Frank, who died In 1905. Besides these there are four sisters and three brothers living, two brothers and two sisters being present at the funeral. She united with the Church of Christ about forty-five years ago and ever lived a devoted Christian life, and her friends were, numbered by her acquaintances. There were many beautiful floral tributes and a large attendance of neighbors and friends at the funeral. Funeral services were held at the old homestead Saturday, June 17, 1911, conducted by Rev. G. E. Robinson, pastor of the Osceola Church of Christ. Interment at the Cox cemetery. The Osceola Sentinel, Osceola, Iowa June 22, 1911, Page 2 Mrs. Jane Stephenson died on Thursday at 4:15, after two weeks of intense suffering; she had been in feeble health for a long time but was always cheerful and patient. The passing of Aunt Jane takes away a pioneer who came as a bride to the home she has left vacant, and our sympathies go out to all the children, especially to her daughter, Alice, and granddaughter, Pearl, who have been so faithful in their care for her during the past few years. Those who attended the funeral from afar were: Mr. and Mrs. John Hollingshead, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hollingshead and daughter, Miss Blanche, of Albia; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Cramer, Mrs. George Kester.
