Description	:	Mary Maria Taber was born October 1, 1840, at Alexander, Genesee county, New York; she died at her home near Fairmont, Nebraska, Monday, May 21, 1923, at the age of eighty two years, seven months and nineteen days. She was married to Fernando F. Robbins at Bethany, New York, March 14, 1867. To them were born three children, Mrs. S.W. Avery of Fairmont, Ora A., who lives on the home place and Earl, who died in infancy. Her childhood days were spent in New York, but she remained there only a few months after her marriage. ... Read More	Mary Maria Taber was born October 1, 1840, at Alexander, Genesee county, New York; she died at her home near Fairmont, Nebraska, Monday, May 21, 1923, at the age of eighty two years, seven months and nineteen days. She was married to Fernando F. Robbins at Bethany, New York, March 14, 1867. To them were born three children, Mrs. S.W. Avery of Fairmont, Ora A., who lives on the home place and Earl, who died in infancy. Her childhood days were spent in New York, but she remained there only a few months after her marriage. Then for six years, her home was on a farm near Fairfield, Michigan. From Michigan, she and her family came west to Nebraska. In the spring of 1874 they located on their homestead three miles southwest of Fairmont. Others came and went, but she and her family stayed to make their contribution to the farm life of Nebraska through the years that were good and the years that were not so prosperous, until death called her out of the service of this life. She was the youngest of seven children; five sisters and one brother, who have all died previously. Her mother died when she was but six years old, depriving her of the joys of a mother, right when she needed her most. Then too, it is hard to realize the hardships which came to her as a pioneer in those days of drouth, grasshoppers and sickness. But it remains for those who knew her best to love her most. She joined the Freewill Baptist church when but a child, where she held her membership until she united with the Methodist church of Fairmont. "Now that she has finished her task, she rests from her labors and the Lord God will be her eternal home." She leaves her husband in his eighty-third year; two children, Mrs. S.W. Avery and Ora A. Robbins; two granddaughters and a host of friends to mourn her departure. Funeral services wee held in the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. V.C.
