Description	:	Boone County Democrat August 30, 1907 Mrs. George McElroy, a well known resident of the city, passed away at her home 139 Tenth street, at 6:30 o'clock Monday morning, after a brief illness resulting from paralysis, she having suffered two severe strokes within twenty four hours bringing on hemorrhage of the brain. About mid night Saturday night, Mr. McElroy awoke and found his wife unconscious from the first stroke, the whole right side being affected. She never regained consciousness and about the same time Sunday night she suffered the second stroke, which resulted in her death Monday morning. ... The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. O.H.L. Mason burial in the East Linwood. Myra C. cress was born at Washington, Iowa, April 11, 1867, making her forty years old at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to George L. McElroy at St. Charles, Iowa, March 7, 1895 they came to Boone and have resided here since. To them were born four children, one of whom has preceded her in death. She leaves her husband, three children, Harold, Robert and Mary, her mother, Mrs. Mary R. Cress and one brother, Will Cress all of Boone, to mourn her death. Mrs. McElroy was a woman of sterling Christian character an active worker in the Y.W.C.A. and in the W.R.C., being secretary of the W.C. Crooks Corps, No. 18, at the time of her death.
