Description	:	The remains of Robert Curtis, a Gallatin county pioneer who died at Lewistown, Montana, September 14, were brought to Manhattan, where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Barnes officiating, and interment was in the family lot at Old Hamilton cemetery, beside the grave of his wife. Robert Curtis was born at Rutledge, Vermont, October 20, 1835, and had he lived a few weeks longer, he would have been 90 years old. He moved with his parents to Portage, Wisconsin, in 1846, and was married in 1856 to Susan D. Hopkins. He crossed the plains with his family in 1864, arriving at Old Hamilton July 14. He made several trips east and back across the plains and in 1882 went back to Wisconsin and remained several years. About 15 years ago he returned to Montana, and since that time has resided with his son Samuel Curtis at Lewistown, Montana, where he died. His wife died about five years ago and was buried in Old Hamilton cemetery. Mr. Curtis is survived by five children, by a number of grandchildren and one great grandchild. The children are: Mrs. Neal (Ellen) Melton of Sloan, Montana; Mrs. D. A. (Jennie) Camp of Maschetah, Montana; Samuel Curtis, Lewistown, Montana; Mrs. Jack (Grace) Maloney of Billings and Mrs. Fred (Pearl) Teeter of Poynette, Wisconsin.
