She was the daughter of Gilbert and Martha Page Maxfield. She attended school at Clemons and graduated from Albion High School in 1929. She attended Iowa State Normal School in Cedar Falls; Black Hawk County, Iowa and taught in schools in Marietta, Iowa, Bangor and Timber Creek townships and later in Albion all in Marshall County, Iowa. Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Ruth (Maxfield) Benbow was born on Saturday; January 28th, 1911 in the Minerva area of Marshall County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Gilbert and Martha Page Maxfield. She attended school at Clemons and graduated from Albion High School in 1929. She attended Iowa State Normal School in Cedar Falls; Black Hawk County, Iowa and taught in schools in Marietta, Iowa, Bangor and Timber Creek townships and later in Albion all in Marshall County, Iowa. On Wednesday; February 27, 1935 she was united in marriage to Robert Benbow. They resided in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa most of their married lives. Mr. Benbow passed away on Thursday; March 16, 1972. Ruth was an active member of the Congregational Church at Green Mountain and later, as a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, serving in many capacities. Ruth (Maxfield) Benbow, 96, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday; February 6, 2007 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Those left to mourn her passing are her loving children, two daughters and four sons. They are Virginia (Steven) Stockdale of Iowa Falls; Hardin County, Iowa. Janice (Larry) Collins of Green Mountain; Marshall Countyl, Iowa. Charles (Kaye) Benbow of Fresno; Fresno County, California. Donald (Jane) Benbow of Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. Rev. John (Mary) Benbow of La Jolla; San Diego County, California and Wayne (Connie) Benbow of Arvada; Jefferson County, Colorado. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, a sister, Doris Maxfield of Marshalltown and sister-in-law, Bessie Maxfield of Marshalltown. In death she has rejoined her beloved husband, Robert, her parents, two sisters, Mildred Airey and Alice Maxfield, four brothers, Clifford, Fred, James and William Maxfield and two grandchildren. May they all rest in peace. Visiation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday; February 11, 2007 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will start at 10:30 a.m. on Monday; February 12, 2007 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Following services, Mrs. Benbow will be laid to rest in the Green Mountain Cemetery located in Green Mountain; Marshall County, Iowa. There will be a time of fellowship and refreshments immediately folloing in the hospitality room of the funeral home.
